On 4 May 2026, Maria Tsangaridou of our office spoke on Katia Savva’s TV programme on Alpha Cyprus regarding the recent judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in Nikolaou and Others v. Cyprus, in which the Republic was found to have violated Applicants’ right to property.

Her intervention focused on the significance of the judgment, emphasising that the State bears a continuing obligation, in cases of expropriation, to realise the public purpose for which property was taken. She also addressed the next steps arising from the judgment, as well as the Court’s broader approach to the protection of the right to property.
